Canadian Wildlife Protection

Meet some of Canada’s wildlife we are working to protect:

Cougars, bobcats and Canada lynx all play important roles in their respective ecosystems. Unfortunately, these animals contend with threats like habitat loss, human-wildlife conflict and trophy hunting.

Coyotes

They are highly intelligent animals that have rich emotional lives. There are few laws protecting coyotes in Canada, and in part due to their undeserved reputation as “pests”, they are often the victims of wildlife killing contests.

Black Bears

They are found in every Canadian province and territory except Prince Edward Island and they can live for up to 30 years in the wild. Despite their ecological importance, BC bears face numerous threats including poaching, loss of habitat, trophy hunting, and climate change.

Wolves

They are incredibly intelligent and complex animals, who face several threats including trophy hunts and government-run culls.

Discover More

Cougars (also known as mountain lions or pumas) are the largest wildcat in Canada.

Together, we can learn how to peacefully coexist with wild animals and support their natural habitats.

Coyotes are a native part of North American ecosystems and play an important ecological role.
